In the wake of Rurik

In year 863 the svea viking Rurik arrived on the river Neva and became ruler in "Holmgård" (Novgorod)

830's Svea vikings (called "ruser" or "varjager") ventures via Neva to Istanbul.
863 Rurik of Roths Lagia (Roslagen) rules in Holmgard (Novgorod).
1019 Ruriks greatgreatgreatson Jaroslav marries the swedish king Olof Skötkonungs daughter Ingegärd (in russian history Saint Irina).
1615

Jakob de la Gardie rules in Novgorod - one of Swedens most important cities throught history.
Gustav II Adolf and Axel Oxenstierna visits the borderfortress Nyenskans by Neva.

1703 1 may Nyenskans surrender, giving the russians access to the sea.
16 maj Tsar Peter (a giant, measuring 204 cm of the Romanov family) is rowed n the river Neva och and orders the PeterPaul fortress to be built - S:t Petersburg is founded.
Imprisoned Karolinian (swedish) officers leads the construction work.

The city is proclaimed Capitol of Russia

1718 Karolinian fieldmarshal Renschöld (Poltava) returns to Ruriks ancestral home in Roslagen via S:t Petersburg - Åland - Old Grisslehamn. He is exchanged for fieldmarshal Trubetskoj and the general Golovin (Narva).
Swedes and russians are repatrioted and settles in their respective home counties.
1909 The famous swedish boatbuilder August Plym exhibits a sailing yacht at a exhibition in S:t Petersburg.
1917 The Russian revolution is led with a telephones manufactured at L M Ericssons factory in the city.
2003 The Swedish government supports a yearlong celebration of St Peterburgs 300 year jubilee. The Swedish Trade Council participates. Swedish companies are offered good marketing opportunities and options to support the Rurik project..
